Wally D. Rajdl, 48
Wally Rajdl, 48, of Glenwood, died surrounded by his family Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held today, Monday, Oct. 3, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood. Interment was in Calvary cemetery in Villard. Arrangements were with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Wallace Dean Rajdl, the son of Harlan and Rita (Kinney) Rajdl, was born on Jan. 23, 1963, in Glenwood. He grew up at his family farm just outside of Villard and attended St. Bartholomew Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He graduated from Villard High School at the top of his class and was a three sport athlete. He continued his education at Alex Tech where he received his insurance license. He was employed right out of high school to work at Glenwood State Bank as a teller and then he moved to the insurance department and worked there for eight years. He then moved to Lowry and joined Lowry Insurance Agency with Bob Mork and Chuck Thompson. After the bank expanded, he moved the agency across the street and a second agent was added. Steve Pauly came on board. The agency continued to grow for many years. Wally worked full time until June and continued to help out until his final week.
He married Dorothy (Dottie) M. Stavem on May 6, 1989, at Sacred Heart Church in Glenwood. They celebrated many happy years together with two beautiful girls, Annelise and Bethany, and an infant son who he has now gone to see in heaven. They made their home in Long Beach. He was a part of numerous organizations throughout his life such as Lowry Lions, Lowry Sons of American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Long Beach City Council member, Waterama as the Treasurer and Admiral, Salvation Army, church council and choir, Showstoppers and Glenwood Jaycees.
He truly loved the outdoors and shared this love with his family and friends. You could always find him outside on the weekend "puttsing" with a new project or fixing whatever was broken. He especially loved to go hunting. Regardless of the season, duck, goose or deer, you could find him hunting. But most of all, he loved to fish. Whether he was out with his Dad, his girls or good friends, you could find him with a smile on his face and a fishing pole in his hand. He loved to go out in the morning on vacation searching for the "hot" spot, just so he could take his girls out in the afternoon where he would become the guide, bait hooker and fish taker-offer. He enjoyed this time with his girls, even if it meant he didnít get to fish. He will be remembered most for his compassionate heart, love of God and love of family. Wally passed away Sept. 28, 2011, surrounded by his family at home.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie; two daughters, Anna from Minneapolis and Bethany "Beth" of Glenwood; parents, Harlan and Rita Rajdl of Villard; one sister, Vicki (Earl) Myhre of Wahpeton, N.D.; three brothers, Dwight (Kim) Rajdl of Harris, Dale Rajdl of Forest Lake and John (Julie) Rajdl of Garretson, S.D.; along with many nieces and nephews.
