July 4th guests at the Pat and Duane Larson home to celebrate Duane’s birthday were Tony Chan and family of Seattle, Wash., Ester Tharaldson of Starbuck, Ed and Patty Larson, Kally and Jeff Kutz of Alexandria and Wanda and Tom Dent and boys of Minneapolis. Valerie Schmidt re-ceived a text message from Nancy Kegg of Sumner, Ill., which read, "It has been 103-109 for the last week and a half. No rain. Corn looks pretty well gone. 109 today." So far, crops look good here, but if we don’t get some rain soon we won’t be far behind, I’m afraid.

June 24, R’Dell Molander attended the open house in honor of Pat and Chuck Thompson. Later that afternoon she drove to Garfield to attend an open house in honor of Pastor and Mrs. Harold Knudson. That evening she met Harland Malyn and Lee Whitehall of Washington for supper. R’Dell had not seen Lee for about 20 years.

 Pat and Duane Larson enjoyed hosting a cousins reunion on Saturday with several coming from out of state. The gathering were cousins for Pat’s mother’s family.

Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Dan Murphy, of Morris, visited with Edna Dohmstreich.

Last week Phyllis Helgerson spent several days in the Twin Cities area with her family. While there she enjoyed attending her granddaughter, Keisa Helgerson’s choral concert and also her open house graduation celebration.

Saturday Helen Mickelson attended the graduation reception for Trevor Eystad in Morris.

Saturday Jeanette Mickelson attended the wedding of her great-grandson Michael Lundebrek in St. Paul and the wedding reception, which followed, was in Hudson, Wis., on a boat.

Friday Eilert and Dorraine Beyer drove to Prior Lake where they were guests in the Ehric Beyer home. That evening they attended their granddaughter, Kilee’s dance recital at the Kennedy Senior High School in Bloomington. They later celebrated Kilee’s 5th birthday in Edenbourgh Park.

Marjorie Lerdahl was among those who attended the graduation reception open house for Renee Mullins at her home on Saturday.

Pastor Dave and Shirley Mork, of Duluth were Thursday evening overnight guests with Edna Mork. They had been attending a retreat in Colorado for several days and were en route home.

Tuesday evening Valerie Schmidt treated Chuck and Jan Lister, of Alexandria, to dinner at the Brass Lan-tern in Alexandria.

Shirley Mork, of Duluth, was a Thursday evening visitor and overnight guest of her mother-in-law, Edna Mork.

Thursday evening Valerie Schmidt and Nancy Kegg, of Sumner, Ill., and her son, Brian Kegg, of St. Louis, Mo., met for a visit and dinner at the Hatchery. The ladies have been friends since preschool days in Kensington.

Members of the Lowry Senior Citizens enjoyed their monthly meeting and Christmas gathering Monday noon at the Community Center.

Carroll Anderson and Jordan Anderson enjoyed spending the weekend with Jerome Anderson in Elk River.

Thursday evening the Lowry Lions enjoyed their Christmas supper and party at the Minnewaska House in Glenwood.

Several relatives and family spent last week with R’Dell Molander following the death of Bud Molander and the funeral on Monday morning. Friday she enjoyed a visit from Jon and Vickie Hawkinson from Anchorage, Alaska, and also a visit from Dale and Vida Kalina of Neighborville,

Ill. On Monday R’Dell, along with Charlotte Disrud of Starbuck, drove to Henning where

they attended the funeral for Hub Nordgren. He is R’Dell’s brother-in-law.

Ed and Mary Bolas drove to Minneapolis Thanksgiving day where they spent the day with Rhea Bolas and Lumara. On Friday Ed and Mary drove to Omaha, Neb., where they spent time visiting members of Ed’s family. En route home they stopped in Lincoln, Neb., to visit with Dick and Nancy Doll before returning home on Sunday.

Thanksgiving day Carroll Anderson and Valerie Schmidt were entertained with others in the Daryl and Cheryl Syverson home in Glenwood.

Florence Brosh enjoyed spending Thanksgiving with Shari and Wayne Gease in Alexandria with other family members.

Sunday Carroll Anderson celebrated Thanksgiving at his home with Jerome Anderson and daughter, and ladyfriend from Elk River, Justin Anderson and Jordan Anderson.

From the week of Oct. 24:

Many from the area attended the funeral for Glenn Bennett, long time Lowry area resident, on Monday at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in rural Lowry.

Friday R’Dell Molander enjoyed a pleasant fall drive to Urbandale, Iowa, where she spent until Tuesday with the Jeff Molander family. She had volunteered to give out water and Gatorade to the participants in the Walk for Parkinson’s in which her daughter-in-law was participating on Saturday. This walk is part of the DesMoines Marathon. Tuesday she drove to Rogers where she was an overnight guest in the Steve Molander home and helped Anna celebrate her birthday with other family members. R’Dell returned to her home Wednesday.

Saturday evening Edna Mork and Bob and Lori Mork were among the guests at the wedding of Edna’s great-granddaughter, Jenny Mork, daughter of Tom and Jane Mork. The wedding took place at the Marketplace. Later she accompanied Dave and Shirley Mork, of Duluth, to Mora where Edna was an overnight guest with her brother, Don and Elaine Van Driel. Edna returned home Sunday.

Wednesday noon Valerie Schmidt joined Chuck and Jan Lister, of Alexandria, for lunch at The Nutcracker Café in Starbuck.

Wednesday visitors with Bud Molander at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home were Irene Magnuson, of Alexandria, Ruth McIver, Joyce McIver, Jane Dingwall, Anne Snider and Myra Femrite.

Several from Lowry were among those who attended the Senior Halloween Party at the Minnewaska House near Glenwood Thursday noon.

Dale and Vaida Kaline of Neighborville, Ill., spent several days last week visiting with his sister, R’Dell Molander. On Wednesday they all visited with their aunt, Elsie Johnson in Alexandria and helped her celebrate her birthday. Other birthday guests were Benny and Margie Kalina, of Alexandria.

Glen and Ethel Lundblad enjoyed spending from Thursday to Sunday at Hostfest in Minot, N.D.

They enjoyed visiting with others who took the Utopia Tour to Minot. While there they had the opportunity to visit with a number of people they knew from the surrounding area.

Wednesday evening the St.Paul’s Lutheran Church supper was well attended by area residents.

Anna Molander, of Rogers, spent Thursday visiting with her grandfather, Bud Molander, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck and also with her grandmother, R’Dell Molander.

Quite a number from the Lowry area attended the funeral for Wally Rajdl at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood.

On Sunday, Edna Dohmstreich was among those entertained for dinner and the afternoon in the John Dickey home on Pomme de Terre Lake. The occasion was to help Gorden Thompson celebrate his birthday.

Friday overnight and Saturday guests in the Helen Mickelson home were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bierman and family, of Brainerd.

On Thursday, Valerie Schmidt, of Lowry, and Doris Wersinger drove to Albany where they were met by Doris’daughter, Mary Habig, of Waite Park.The ladies accompanied Mary back to St. Cloud where they enjoyed some shopping and noon lunch together.


From the week of Sept. 5:

One afternoon last week Katie Molander, of Rogers, enjoyed spending the day with her grandparents,R'Dell and Bud Molander, before beginning her new career as a student teacher in special education in the Monticello school system. We wish Katie the best of all good things as she begins this career working with young children.

Steve Molander, of Rogers, spent Sunday visiting his parents, Bud and R'Dell Molander.

Wednesday evening the Lowry Firemen held their annual supper which was well-attended by area residents. They enjoyed a beautiful fall evening for the event.


August 1, 2011

Florence Brosh accompanied a number of Silver Key Club members from the First State Bank of Kensington on a trip to Park Rapids where they attended a performance at the Jaspers theater. They also enjoyed lunch in Dorset.

On Friday, Dave and JoAnne Opheim ,of Rockford, Ill., visited with Bud and R’Dell Molander. JoAnne is a sister of Bud.

On Sunday, Edna Mork was a visitor and overnight guest in the Tom Mork home at Lakeville.

Wednesday afternoon Valerie Schmidt visited with Chuck and Jan Lister in Alexandria and enjoyed a spaghetti supper with them.

The Jeff Molander family of Urbandale, Iowa, have been spending several days camping on Lake Minnewaska. During the day, Bud and R’Dell Molander visited with them several times and enjoyed lunch with them.


News from the week of May 30:

Ed and Mary Bolas traveled to Minneapolis on Saturday where they attended the graduation of Rhea O’Schien, who received her master’s degree in art from St. Catherine’s.

Ed and Mary Bolas enjoyed attending a Minnesota Twins game at the Target Center on Saturday. It was especially eventful because they attended a game the Twins won!

R’Dell Molander drove to Hankinson, N.D., on Sunday to visit a friend, Pat Krieg of Tucson, Ariz., and spent the night with her returning home on Memorial Day.


News from the week of May 16:

Mary Bolas accompanied her son’s lady friend, Rhea O’Shion of Minneapolis, to see the Dalai Lama at the University of Minneapolis on Sunday. She said it was a great experience.

Tuesday evening, Bud and R’Dell Molander visited and treated their granddaughter, Katie Molander, to dinner in St. Cloud.

Shirley Mork and Magen Shaner and Kathryn of Duluth visited with Lorraine Danielson in Aexandria on Fridayand were Friday overnight guests and Saturday visitors with Edna Mork.

Bud and R’Dell Molander took advantage of the pleasant weather on Tuesday by driving to Henning where they visited his sister, Dorothy and Hub Nordgren, at their home there.

Don and Elaine VanDriel of Mora spent Saturday with his sister, Edna Mork. They had come to help Edna celebrate her birthday which was Friday.

Tuesday evening, Daryl and Cheryl Syverson of Glenwood and Valerie Schmidt enjoyed dinner together at the Hatchery.

Jeff Molander of Urbandale, Iowa, was a Monday overnight guest with his parents, Bud and R’Dell Molander. On Tuesday, Jeff and R’Dell attended the funeral service for Donnie Larson at the Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace.

Sunday evening, Valerie Schmidt enjoyed a telephone visit with Nancy Keff of Sumner, Ill. Nancy told Valerie they had temperatures in the 60s. It was thundering when the ladies were talking and Nancy said the temperatures were to fall overnight, and by morning they would have snow or ice. She said some fl ooding in low lying areas was already occurring and many of the rivers were already at the crest point.

Alyssa and Jesse Tim and Emmit of Rochester, Anna, Emma and Tyson Bergsrud of Little Rock, Ark., and Samantha Bergsrud of Rochester spent several days during the Christmas-New Year’s week with Jim and Sue Bergsrud.

Tom Bolas and Lumara of Minneapolis were Sunday guests of his parents, Ed and Mary Bolas to celebrate Christmas.

Christmas Eve, R’Dell and Bud Molander were entertained for supper in Jane Dingwall’s home.

Christmas night, Valerie Schmidt was a supper guest of Daryl and Cheryl Severson and Paul Syverson in their home in Glenwood.

Glen and Ethel Lundblad entertained their family for Christmas and Christmas Day. An added guest was Ethel’s brother, Victor Johnson of Glenwood.

Christmas Day, R’Dell and Bud Molander drove to Rogers where they were guests in the Steve Molander home. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Molander and family of Urbandale, Iowa. They were all guests there until Sunday.

Samantha Bergsrud spent her Thanksgiving vacation from the University of Minnesota Rochester with her parents, Jim and Sue Bergsrud.

Tom Bolas of Minneapolis and Ed and Mary Bolas drove to Omaha, Neb., for several days over Thanksgiving to visit Ed’s father, Ken Bolas. Joining them for Thanksgiving were Mr. and Mrs. Al Bolas and John Bolas, both Ed’s brothers.

Thanksgiving day dinner guests in Florence Broshes home were Keith Brosh and Dustin, Kurt and Anita Benny and Kinsey of St. Cloud, Chester Brosh, Shari and Wayne Gease, Travis, Cody and Nick and friend Hannah, Jamie and friend Dewing, Ryleigh, Braxton and Jaxsyn of Alexandria. Added afternoon guests were Stella and Gaylen Zavadil of Alexandria.

Celebrating a belated Thanksgiving Saturday night at the Glen and Ethel Lundblad home were David and Carla Lundblad and family, Lori and Bruce Larson and family, Sue and Jim Bergsrud and family, Mike and Terri Lundblad and family, Mark and Kristi Anderson and family of Alexandria, and Cindy and David Kurilla and Christopher of St. Cloud.

Bud and R’Dell Molander spent Thanksgiving with Jim and Judy Anderson in Starbuck.

Edna Mork spent Thanksgiving with Pastor Dave and Shirley Mork in Duluth. She enjoyed spending time with other family members there also.

Dave and Cindy Kurilla and Christopher of St. Cloud were Friday to Saturday guests in the Ethel and Glen Lundblad home. Dave had come to do some pheasant hunting.

Mary Bolas spent from November 17-19 in St. Cloud where she had her fi rst opportunity to instruct several individuals to become rural letter carriers.

Veterans Day, Ed and Mary Bolas flew to Hooks, Tex., where they spent several days with Mary’s mother, Fran Doll and her brother, Tom Doll.

Mary Bolas spent three days in Willmar last week where she shadowed an instructor with the U.S. Postal Service training rural letter carriers. Mary is now ready to train rural letter carriers for the U.S. Post Office. Congratulations, Mary, on this accomplishment.

R’Dell and Bud Molander returned home this week after spending twelve days in Urbandale, Iowa, where theyspent the time with their grandsons Ryan and Reed Molander while their parents, Jeff and LaDonna Molander were attending a Parkinsons Seminar in Scotland.

Friday afternoon, Valerie Schmidt met Catherine Schmeising of Sauk Centre in Alexandria for a brief visit. The ladies had been caregivers of a client on Big Birch Lake a number of years ago.

Edna Mork enjoyed spending a week with her brother, Don and Elaine Van Driel at Mora and also with their sister, Wilma Love, of Everett, Wash., who had flown in to spend the week. On Sunday they all drove to Duluth where they visited with Dave and Shirley Mork. Don and Elaine also entertained various other relatives in the area for Edna and Wilma to visit while there.

Monday afternoon Valerie Schmidt attended a training session at Alternative Senior Care in Sauk Centre on "Handling  Difficult People" which was facilitated by a representative from Lakewood Health Services out of Staples.

Shirley Mork of Duluth visited one afternoon last week with Edna Mork.

Monday evening, Valerie Schmidt was a supper guest with Chuck and Jan Lister at their home in Alexandria.

Ed and Mary Bolas enjoyed spending Saturday and Sunday at the Minnesota State Fair and tasting the different foods and experiencing the fair at its best.

Saturday afternoon Valerie Schmidt met her long-time friend Nancy Kegg of Sumner, Ill., and her son, Brian Kegg of Springfield, Ill., at Perkins in Alexandria for a visit. Nancy and Valerie have been friends since elementary days in Kensington.

LaDona Molander of Urbandale, Iowa, spent the weekend with her parents, Jim and Judy Anderson at Starbuck as she came to attend her high school class reunion. Sunday morning

R’Dell and Bud Molander were invited to the Andersons to have breakfast with LaDona before she returned home later that day.

Bud and R’Dell Molander celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. All their children were present and most of their grandchildren were able to attend the special event as well. A number of other family members also attended and called it their home over the weekend.

Dave and Shirley Mork of Duluth were Friday afternoon to Saturday guests with his mother, Edna Mork. They came to attend Dave’s 40th class reunion over the weekend. They also spent some time visiting with Shirley’s mother.

Weather on Saturday afternoon made news in the Lowry area. Two times the siren sounded warning residentsto take shelter. Certainly we can be grateful to the fire department and sheriff’s department for keeping their eyes to the sky during weather like that. There was quite a bit of hail,

Some of it was the size of golf balls. When some of the hail stones broke open they would steam, while others seemed soft and slushy. Hopefully, the hail didn’t do too much damage to crops in the area. It sounds like this coming Saturday could be another stormy one. We’re finally getting a normal summer.

Wednesday morning Valerie Schmidt attended a Crafter’s meeting at the Glenwood Senior Citizen’s Center in Glenwood. The purpose of the meeting was to make plans for the Craft Shack during Waterama and the County Fair at the end of July and the first part of August. The Craft Shack will be open two Saturday mornings between the Waterama and the County Fair as well this year.


From the week of June 7:

Saturday afternoon, Jim and Sue Bergsrud entertained at an open house graduation party for their daughter, Samantha, who recently graduated from Minnewaska Area High School. Many relatives and friends came to help Samantha celebrate this special occasion. She was also honored to have relatives come from Little Rock, Ark., and Rochester.

Chuck and Jan Lister of Alexandria and Valerie Schmidt attended the fundraiser dinner at Fat Daddy’s on Wednesday. The ladies were celebrating the completion of a quilt they were making for a farewell presention to their pastor and wife, Pastor Jim and Carol Van Arsdale, who are moving to Janesville, Wis., the middle of June.


From the week of May 31:

Ed and Mary Bolas spent some time over the Memorial weekend in Omaha, Neb. where they helped Ed’s brother, Al Bolas,celebrate his birthday with family and friends. They also visited with her brother, Richard and Nancy Dell at Denton, Neb.

Saturday evening supper guests with Bud and R’Dell Molander were Ken and Kay Elvehjem and Jane Dingwall.

Sunday overnight guests and visitors with Edna Mork were Shirley Mork, Megan and Katherine Shaner of Duluth.

Wednesday, Chuck and Jan Lister of Alexandria and Valerie Schmidt enjoyed a potluck picnic dinner to celebrate an early Memorial Day celebration.

Steve Molander of Rogers was a Sunday dinner and afternoon visitor of his parents, Bud and R’Dell Molander.

Anita and Curt Benny of St. Cloud, Juanita Cheesebough of Albertville and friend Joan of Alexandria spent Saturday night with Florence Brosh. They had come to attend the wedding of Courtney Brosh on Saturday at Glenwood.

Wednesday morning, Valerie Schmidt visited in Alexandria at the Chuck and Jan Lister home. Later they enjoyed lunch together at the Coffee Pot Cafe.

Edna Mork spent a week with David and Shirley Mork in Duluth. While there she became acquainted with her new great-granddaughter, Katherine Grace, and also attended a baby shower given for and her mother, Magan Schaner. Edna enjoyed spendng Mother’s Day with the family, and on Monday, Shirley, Magan and Katherine drove Edna to Milaca where she was met by Bob Mork, who returned her to her home later that day.

My apologies to the Lions. Last week I stated the Legion had hosted the smelt fry. It just goes to show I’m human. I was thinking Lions, so I don’t know why I typed Legion.

Mother’s Day Chris Molander and Katie, and her friend, Matt, of Rogers treated Bud and R’Dell Molander to Mother’s Day dinner at their home. Steve was coaching a basketball game that day. Later. Jeff and LaDonna Molander of Urbandale, Iowa, telephoned to wish R’Dell a happy Mother’s Day. They also sent her a nice beautiful plant to enjoy and celebrate the occasion.

The Lowry Legion served another excellent smelt fry on Monday night at the Community Center. About 400 were served, which is higher than the usual average which is usually about 350 to 375. Last year because of the weather they had one of the poorest years. This year they were eyeing the smelt to be sure it would last as whenthey finished serving they had 1-1/2 ice cream pails left of smelt.

Hub and Dorothy Nordgren of Henning visited with Bud and R’Dell Molander on Thursday. Dorothy and Bud are sister and brother.

Easter Sunday, Edna Mork joined other family members at the Bob and Lori Mork home.

About 20 senior citizens met at the Lowry Community Center Monday afternoon for their regular monthly meeting. On the program was Cincy Theschafer of Alternative Senior Care, Doris Wersinger of Cyrus and Valerie Schmidt. Doris and Valerie brought their Barbie dolls to show. Doris has a number of recycled dolls she has either made costumes for to turn them into historical figures or made other outfi ts from years past. Valerie’s collection includes one of the “first” Barbie dolls and also a 42” Barbie doll to current Barbies and some in-between. Also present was Dodie Johnsrud, Pope County Senior Coordinator.

Edna Mork has been patiently waiting for her first great-grandchild which arrived on March 29. Katherine Grace was born to Megan and Ben Sharer of Proctor. Megan is the daughter of Dave and Shirley Mork of Duluth. Great-grandmother Edna is eagerly awaiting pictures of the new arrival.

Just before leaving Tucson, Ariz., Bud and R’Dell Molander enjoyed dinner with Jim and Julane Kalina from Bemidji and breakfast with Gurvin and Myra Femrite. They also had lunch one day with John and Vickie Hawkinson of Anchorage, Alaska.

Florence Brosh, along with other family members and friends, attended a bridal shower for her granddaughter, Courtney Brosh, at the Legion on Saturday.

Enroute back to Minnesota, Bud and R’Dell Molander spent a few days visiting in the Jeff Molander home in Urbandale, Iowa. The Molanders had spent the winter in Tucson, Ariz.

Saturday, March 13, a baby shower for Emmitt Timm and his parents, Jesse and Alicia Timm of Rochester was held at the Jim and Sue Bergsrud home. Tanner and Anna Bergsrud, Emma and Tyson of Little Rock, Arkansas joined a number of relatives for the festive occasion.

Glen and Ethel Lundblad returned home recently after spending about two months in California, New Mexico and Arizona where they visited with family and friends. Jim and Sue Bergsrud and family drove to Red Wing where they spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Tanner Bergsrud and family of Little Rock, Ark., and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Timm and family of Rochester. They also had the opportunity of seeing their grandchildren, Tyson Bergsrud and Emmitt Timm, baptized. They are the children of the Jesse Bergsruds and Jesse Timms. Enroute home Emma Bergsrud of Little Rock, accompanied her grandparents to spend a few days with them in Lowry.

On Thursday, Don and Elaie Van Driel of Mora, Bob Mork and Edna Mork enjoyed a visit together and lunch. Edna’s brother, Don and wife, Elaine, had come to help Edna celebrate her birthday.

Members of the Lowry Senior Citizens enjoyed their monthly meeting on March 1 at the Community Center. The group enjoyed receiving information on getting proper exercises to stay active and healthy.

With Easter, graduations, weddings and showers just around the corner for a lot of us, this may be a good time to put these items in the paper. Jim and Sue Bergsrud have one thing to be grateful for this week. Their son, Tanner Bergsrud, of Arkansas, returned safely home on February 23 from Afghanistan where he has been stationed with the U.S. Air Force. He will be spending some time with his wife and family in Arkansas, and also will be visiting with relatives in Minnesota shortly.

Thursday morning, Valerie Schmidt accompanied Daryl and Cheryl Syverson  of Glenwood to Alexandria where they attended the visitation for Michael J. Piechowski at the Anderson  Funeral Chapel. Afterwards they enjoyed supper together at the Traveler’s Inn there.

Three volunteer fire department members have recently retired with a total of 79 years between them. Thank you, guys, for
your dedication to the community. John Dahlseng with 26 years, Jim Drewes with 27 years and Jon Larson with 26 years on
the department were recently honored at the Fire Department Christmas and retirement party on January 16 at the Legion.
Congratulations, men, and best wishes for the future.

Monday afternoon, the Lowry Senior Citizens held their monthly meeting at the Community Center. The seniors especially enjoyed the cherry pie and ice cream which was furnished by the Lowry Lions.

On Thursday, Shari Gease of Alexandria treated her mother, Florence Brosh, to lunch to help her mother celebrate her
birthday.
 

On Saturday, Jim and Sue Bergsrud and family drove to Rochester where they became acquainted with their new grandson, Emmit. Emmit’s grandparents are Jessie and Alicia Timm.


Darlene Bosek of Alexandria treated Florence Brosh to lunch on Friday to help her celebrate her birthday.


Wednesday evening, Carroll Anderson and Valerie Schmidt were dinner guests in the Chuck and Jan Listerhome in Alexandria. The occasion was to help Chuck celebrate his belated birthday which was January 9th and Carroll’s forthcoming birthday which will be January 30.


Friday evening, Keith Stoen treated his mother, Florence Brosh, to evening dinner to help her celebrate her birthday.

On Christmas Day, Ed and Mary Bolas visited with Lee and Donna Ortendahl and their family at their home in Glenwood.

Christmas Eve guests in the Glen and Ethel Lundblad home were Bruce and Lori Larson and family, David and Carla Lundblad and family, Sue and Jim Bergsrud and family, Mike and Terri Lundblad and family, Mark and Kristi Anderson and family of Alexandria, Cindy and David Kurella and Christopher of St. Cloud.

Monday afternoon, Edna Mork returned to her home after spending about a week with Dave and Shirley Mork and family in Duluth to celebrate Christmas.

Monday to Wednesday guests in the Jim and Sue Bergsrud home were Anna Bergsrud, Emma and Tyson of Little Rock, Ark., and Jessie and Alicia Timm of Rochester. Emma and Tyson’s daddy, Tanner, is currently in Afghanistan. We pray God’s protecting hand on Tanner as he serves his country there.

Angie and Bob Ort and Bobbie, Jr. of Texas left Wednesday morning for their return trip to their home. They had spent several days over the New Year’s week with Angie’s brother, Carroll Anderson. They also visited with her mother, Gladys Anderson at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, as well as visiting with other relatives and friends in the area.

Thanksgiving Day, Bud and R’Dell Molander were among those who were entertained at the Jim and Judy Anderson home at Starbuck for dinner. Other guests there included Jeff and LaDonna Molander of Urbandale, Iowa.

On Saturday, Ed and Mary Bolas drove to Rogers where they enjoyed a hockey game in which their nephew, Matt Bolas
participated.

On Saturday, Bud and R’Dell Molander hosted the Kalina Thanksgiving-Christmas celebration at their home. Relatives came from Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, and severalcame from various locations in Minnesota.

Monday afternoon, the Lowry Senior Citizens enjoyed their annual Christmas party and luncheon at the Community Center.
They especially enjoyed the students from Discovery Days Preschool as they presented a program. There was a good attendance with 25 or so enjoying the festivities.

Dale and Vida Kalina of Nappersville, Ill., were houseguests Thanksgiving week at the Bud and R’Dell Molander home.
Also spending a portion of the week with the Molanders were Jeff and LaDonna Molander of Urbandale, Iowa.

Evelyn Hollenbeck spent several days over the Thanksgiving holiday with Bob and Fran Hollenbeck in Minneapolis.


Edna Mork spent a week with Dave and Shirley Mork at their home in Duluth. After Thanksgiving, Dave drove her to
Mora where she spent a few days visiting her brother, Don and Elaine Van Driel. She returned home on Monday.


Thanksgiving day dinner guests of Florence Brosh were Keith and Karen Brosh and Courtney, Sharon and Wayne Gease, Travis and Cody, Nick Brosh and friend Hannah, James Gease and Dewey Nelson, Ryleigh, Braxton and Jaxson, Kurt and Anita Bennie, Chase and Kinsie of St. Cloud. An added afternoon visitor was Dustin Brosh.


Dinner guests entertained in the Glen and Ethel Lundblad home were David and Carla Lundblad and family, Jim and Sue
Bergsrud and family, Mike and Terri Lundblad and family and David and Cindy Kurelle and Christopher of St. Cloud.


Thanksgiving day, Doris Wersinger of Starbuck, Carroll Anderson and Valerie Schmidt of Lowry were entertained for
dinner in the Chuck and Jan Lister home in Alexandria. That afternoon Carroll also visited his mother, Gladys Anderson at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.

Eighteen seniors from the Lowry area enjoyed attending the Halloween party at the Minnewaska House near Glenwood Thursday afternoon. All who attended had an enjoyable afternoon.

Ralph Hollenbeck of Estes Park, Colo., spent a few days last week visiting his mother, Evelyn Hollenbeck.

Thursday afternoon, Valerie Schmidt visited at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck with Doris and Joe Wersinger.

Wednesday evening, Ralph Hollenbeck of Estes Park, Colo., and Evelyn Hollenbeck met John Schultz of Morris there where they enjoyed attending a lutefisk supper together.

Tuesday afternoon, Valerie Schmidt visited at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck with Doris and Joe Wersinger.

Pat and Duane Larson left on Wednesday for their home in Venice, Fla., and arrived there on Friday. Pat told her mother, Evelyn Hollenbeck, the entire road trip had been in rain and snow. They had spent the summer at their cabin on Pocket Lake near Lowry.

On Sunday, Dora Mae Burdick of Fridley met her cousin, Valerie Schmidt for noon lunch at the A&W in Glenwood.
Later in the afternoon the ladies visited with Doris Wersinger at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.

Monday evening, Pat and Duane Larson treated friends Dan and Cindy Perkins to dinner at Raaper’s in Alexandria to help Dan celebrate his birthday.

Anita Kraemer and Florence Brosh attended the wedding of Brenna Bergau and Troy Nelson on Saturday afternoon at the Lakes Community Church in Alexandria.

Friday evening, Carroll Anderson, Sherri Peltier and Valerie Schmidt attended visitation at the Hitchcock-Hoplin Funeral Chapel in Glenwood for Ida Pooch.

Sunday morning, Pat Larson and her mother, Evelyn Hollenbeck, enjoyed attending worship services at the Norunga Lutheran Church. In the afternoon, the ladies enjoyed a fall drive to the Nora Lutheran Church, rural Kensington, for the meatball and lutefisk supper.

Christopher Kurilla of St. Cloud spent a couple of days last week with his grandparents, Ethel and Glen Lundblad.

On Wednesday, R’Dell Molander drove to St. Cloud where she enjoyed a visit and treating her granddaughter, Katie
Molander, to lunch. Katie is attending college in St. Cloud.

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lundblad and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lundblad visited with Mae Peterson in Minneapolis on Thursday and Friday. Mae is Glen and Ray’s sister.

On Saturday, Dorothy and Hub Nordgren of Henning were visitors with R’Dell and Bud Molander.

evening, she joined other members of her high school class for their 55th class reunion at the Minnewaska
House.

Saturday evening, Jeanette Ellingson of Paynesville, Chuck and Jan Lister of Alexandria and Valerie Schmidt
visited with Ida Pooch at the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria. That afternoon they also enjoyed a sub supper
together.

Monday evening, Bud and R’Dell Molander returned home after spending several days last week visiting
in the Jeff Molanders home in Urbandale, Iowa. While there, they also visited with Dale and Davida Kalina
of Naperville, Ill., and also with Krislyn Molander who was home from college in Northern Iowa.

On Sunday, Katherine Manning of Zimmerman, Pat and Duane Larson were dinner guests with Evelyn Hollenbeck.

Jim and Julane Kalina of Bemidji were Sunday morning visitors with his sister, R'Dell and Bud Molander, as they were visiting in the area.

Friday evening, Ida Pooch of Alexandria and Valerie Schmidt enjoyed a fish fry at the Chuck and Jan Lister home in Alexandria.

June Coziahr has returned home following heart surgery at the St. Cloud Hospital. She feels she will have a speedy recovery among friends and family who have sent cards, and prayers on her behalf and made telephone calls.

Katherine Manning of Zimmerman spent a few days last week with her mother, Evelyn Hollenbeck.

Last week Bud and R'Dell Molander spent several days in Urbandale, IA, where they were guests in the Jeff Molander home. They went to help their grand-daughter, Krislyn, celebrate her graduation from high school.

On Saturday morning, the ladies of St. {Paul's Lutheran Church hosted a get-acquainted brunch for the ladies of the Nora Lutheran Church of rural Kensington. Recently the two parishes combined to become a two point parish.

Shari and Wayne Gease and grand-daughter, RyLaigh of Alexandria and Florence Brosh drove to St. Cloud on Sunday where they attended Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral. Then niece and grand-daughter, Kinnsie, was one of those confirmed.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons, Chuck and Jan Lister of Alexandria and Valerie Schmidt visited with Ida Pooch at the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria.

Bud and R'Dell Molander drove to St. Cloud on Sunday where they met the Steve Molander family of Rogers for Mother's Day dinner. R'Dell also enjoyed receiving calls from her family in Iowa and flowers to help her celebrate Mother's Day.

Shari Gease of Alexandria treated her mother, Florence Brosh, to dinner on Friday evening at the Water's Edge in Starbuck for Mother's Day.

On Sunday afternoon, Valerie Schmidt enjoyed a telephone visit from Nancy Kegg of Olney, IL. Nancy was enroute to her son, Kevin's home about an hour's drive south of Olney to celebrate Mother's Day with two of her children, Kevin and Amber. Nancy is especially excited as she is going to become a grandmother in July and in October. Valerie and Nancy have been friends since grade school days in Kensington. She told Valerie that absolutely no farm work had been started in her area of Illinois because it has been so wet and they have experienced a lot of flooding along the rivers and creeks.

On Sunday, Keith and Karen Brosh treated Florence Brosh to dinner at the Hatchery for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day.

Suzie Zeimer of Hoffman and her sister, Evelyn Hollenbeck, enjoyed the smelt  fry on Monday evening at the Community Center.

June Coziahr recently retired from the Lowry State bank as cashier. Before retiring the staff held a retirement party for her at the Hatchery Bar and Grill. We wish June a full and interesting retirement.

Saturday afternoon visitors with Ida Pooch at the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria were Chuck and Jan Lister, Leroy and Edna Dockham, all of Alexandria and Valerie Schmidt.

On Friday evening, Kathy DuVall, Betty Paulzine, Janet Svec, Karen Brosh and Evelyn Hollenbeck enjoyed evening dinner together at the Muddy Boot in Forada. The occasion was to help Betty celebrate her birthday.

On Thursday, Ida Pooch of Alexandria and Valerie Schmidt enjoyed spending the day together.

Guests entertained on Sunday in the Steve Molander home at Rogers were Gordon and Lois Reikmann and Glen Reikmann of Rochester and Bud and R'Dell Molander.

On Saturday afternoon Ida Pooch of Alexandria and Carroll Anderson attended the funeral for Ruth Bjurlin at the Ben Wade Covenant Church. Later they visited with Carroll's mother, Gladys Anderson at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.

On Easter Sunday, Edna Mork joined other family members for dinner in the Bob and Lori Mork home.

On Easter Sunday, the Mike Murrus family of Minneapolis and the Bud Molanders were dinner guests in the Jim and Judy Anderson home in Starbuck.
