He grew up on a farm along Lake Ann in Reno Township, attending country school and then graduating from Glenwood School. On April 26, 1946, Joe was drafted into the United States Army, stationed in Japan. After being honorably discharged, he was a member of the American Legion for over 40 years. On June 22, 1954, he was united in marriage to Janet "Hon" Ann Star at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Together they lived and farmed on the Bob and Christine Star family farm. After retirement they moved to Glenwood and enjoyed fishing, travelling and camping with their family and friends. Many of their routes included a casino stop along the way.
Joe died on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Glenwood Village Care Center, having lived to the age of 87 years.
Joseph is survived by Janet, his loving wife of 61 years; a sister, Lil Koubsky; sisters-in-law, Betty Chan, Dorothy, Elaine, and Karen Koubsky; brothers-in-law, Jerry Kalina and Dick Kaminski; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Antonia; 3 brothers, Chuck, Frank and George Koubsky; 2 sisters, Mary Kaminski and Babe Koubsky; a sister-in-law, Viola Kalina; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Chan.
Joe enjoyed farming; it was his life. When asked what he would pick to do in the ‘after-life’, if he could choose anything, he smiled and said "I’d like to farm"!
