Jeanette A. Chan, 83
Jeanette Audrey Chan was born on Feb. 18, 1928, in Reno Township, the daughter of John and Mary (Tvrdik) Craig. She graduated from Central High School in 1946 and continued her education by attending a teachers college in Glenwood. She then taught in Forada and Lake Rachel country schools.
Jeanette was united in marriage with Fred Chan on Aug. 17, 1948, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church near Lake Reno. Three sons and a daughter were born to them. After her children had finished high school Jeanette and her friend Wanda Karrow started their own business out of Jeanette's home called C&K Upholstery. She upholstered countless chairs, seat cushions, furniture and draperies over the years.
Jeanette was a great cook and enjoyed baking. She knew how to knit and sew clothes, mittens and quilts. She also grew vegetables and flowers. Jeanette was an independent woman who knew how to solve problems and fix almost anything. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and ladies guild.
