Roger L. Peterson, 76, of Farwell, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at his home. A private family interment will be in the Norunga Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lowry and a memorial service is to be determined. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Roger Leonard Peterson, the son of Walter L. and Bertha J. (Howland) Peterson, was born on Feb.3, 1935, in Lowry. He grew up on a farm in Kensington until the age of 11 when his family moved to a farm in Farwell. He attended country school in rural Farwell and then Glenwood High School.
Roger was a lifelong farmer. He continued to farm and live on the family farm in rural Farwell until he passed away there on Aug. 13, 2011. He enjoyed visiting auctions, country music, telling Sven and Ole jokes, casino visits and reading the news. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, political positions and opinions and knowledge of world events. He will also be remembered for his mischievous smile and his ability to make a car last forever.
Roger is survived by his sister, Marjorie (Robert Burlingame) Anderson of Hamel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Donald Anderson.
